FontanaArte - Fontana L table lamp

Designed in 1954 by the famous French master glassmaker and decorator Max Ingrand, the lamp was originally named 1853 and later Fontana, in homage to the company of which the Master was for a decade Artistic Director. For design enthusiasts and connoisseurs of the history of the brand, 1853 remains a sort of nickname. The first symbol of timeless design object, still best seller and timeless icon, Fontana is the abat-jour par excellence. The peculiarity of Fontana is multiple ignition: both the base and the lampshade contain one or more light sources. The larger version also allows indirect lighting: an additional light source projects an indirect beam of light upwards. The differentiated lighting allows to meet multiple lighting needs: from the soft glow of the resting light, to the intense light from reading to an emotional and ambient light, obtained by indirect emission. Also available with LED light sources. A very precious lamp in white satin blown glass, already re-edited in the total black version.

Max Ingrand

A famous French master glass worker and decorator, he was artistic director of FontanaArte for one decade, starting from 1954. During that time, he came up with true design classics, such as the Fontana table lamp, still one of the best selling products for the company that bears its name. Having studied at the school of Fine Arts in Paris, he specialised in the decorative Arts, under the guidance of major artists such as Jacques Grüber and Charles Lemaresquier. He produced a great number of stained glass panels for religious buildings, hotels and public places, and was awarded the French Legion of Honour.
